Moon Haiku

Moon Haiku

The moon on the path
it sleeps within a puddle
quietly alone

Conceived on 06.06.2024 and visualized in a surreal way by DALL-E via Bing and Microsoft Designer.

It only became a Haiku by chance, or rather, the words somehow came together on their own, and in the end, syllabically, it turned out to be a 5-7-5 Haiku. When words find their form naturally, it sounds effortless, less forced; after all, poets often hammer and hack away at their verses until they fit. In this sense, a Haiku is a Procrustean bed. Under such circumstances, I would not want to be a sentence. But here, everything came together effortlessly, a kind of literary underwater birth — in this case, in a puddle. The unexpected personification of the moon gives the Haiku a dreamy, almost fairy-tale-like atmosphere—or so I hope.

The Haiku evokes late autumn or early winter, with a cool, crisp temperature—perhaps just after a rainstorm, when the air is still and the ground damp. The colors are soft and muted: silver-gray from the moon, dark blues and purples of the night, and the faint shimmer of water reflecting the moon in the puddle. The mood is one of quiet solitude, with a sense of peaceful isolation. It feels contemplative, tranquil, and slightly melancholic, yet also serene and grounded in the stillness of the night.
